A Look Inside ALLWell North
When Plymouth State University’s newest building, Active Living, Learning, and Wellness (ALLWell) North opened on November 14, 2015, more than 200 students, alumni, faculty, staff, and visitors couldn’t wait to get a look inside the long-awaited, state-of-the-art facility.
And who can blame them? The $32 million, 107,600-square-foot complex is a beautiful new home for PSU’s Department of Health and Human Performance (HHP), Outdoor Center, Adventure Education program, and Center for Active Living and Healthy Communities. It provides new indoor fitness and recreational opportunities for the campus and community, and includes a field house that’s double the size of the old one, plus new classrooms, more locker rooms, expanded athletic training facilities, and indoor tennis courts. Perhaps its most exciting feature is the George E. Davis ’63 Track, a 200-meter indoor competition-sized track that was the catalyst for PSU re-establishing its men’s track and field and adding women’s track and field.
ALLWell North’s beauty goes beyond its form and function: it’s also energy efficient, with LED lighting and a heating and cooling system consisting of two biomass boilers that burn locally produced wood pellets.
